PIANO BLUES ("Piano Blues")
The
director - and pianist - Clint Eastwood explores his lifelong passion for the
Piano Blues, using a treasure trove of rare and historical performances, as
well as interviews and performances by living legends such as Fats Domino and
Dr. John and the eternal Ray Charles.
Piano Blues
consists of interviews and performances by Ray Charles, Dr. John, Marcia Ball,
Pinetop Perkins, Dave Brubeck, Jay McShann, among others, also includes
archival footage of performances by Ray Charles, Ottis Span, Art Tatum, Albert
Lammons Pete Johnson, Jay McShann, Big Joe Turner, Oscar Peterson, Nat King
Cole, Martha Davis, Fats Domino, Professor. Longhair, Charles Brown and Duke
Ellington, among others.
Eastwood
explains: "The Blues have always been part of my musical life and the
piano has always had a special place. All started when my mother brought home
all discs Fats' Waller. Place always had music in my films, but the documentary
Piano Blues gave me a chance to make a film more directly related to the theme
"song" than any other movie you've done throughout my career. "
